The arrangement
No contract, no quota, no house label
Independent benches come in two flavours. Some are independent in name and carry a single manufacturer's fitting cart because that manufacturer subsidised it. We are the other kind. There is no supply agreement in the filing cabinet, no annual volume target, and nothing on the rack that we are obliged to move before the season ends.
The practical effect is small and enormous at the same time. Small, because most golfers end up in well-known heads regardless — the big manufacturers make genuinely good products. Enormous, because when a boutique shaft or an out-of-cycle head from two years ago is the right answer, nothing stops us from saying so.
We keep testing heads on hand across every category. Anything not on the shelf can be ordered in, and if it arrives after your session you get a second short visit to confirm it at no cost.
Head categories on the rack
- Drivers across the full adjustable-hosel range, plus a small stock of fixed-hosel heads for golfers who prefer them
- Fairway woods in every loft from a strong 3 through a 9-wood, which is a shelf most shops do not bother to fill
- Hybrids from 16 through 28 degrees, several in more than one sole width
- Driving irons and utility heads for the golfers a hybrid does not suit
- Cavity, players-cavity, hollow-body and muscle-back irons, with blending candidates for each
- Wedges across the useful bounce and grind combinations rather than one grind per loft
- Putters in blade, mid-mallet and high-MOI mallet, in several neck configurations
Shaft rack
Around a hundred and forty models live on the wall, weighted heavily toward wood and hybrid profiles because that is where our sessions concentrate. We hold multiple flexes and weights within each family rather than one sample per model, since a family's behaviour changes shape as weight climbs. Steel iron shafts are stocked in the common weight classes plus the lighter options that seniors and slower deliveries genuinely need.
Grips
Rubber, corded, and hybrid-texture grips in four core sizes, plus build-up tape for the sizes between. Grip choice is not cosmetic — a grip two sizes too small changes how much the hands release, which changes face angle at impact, which changes everything downstream. We measure hand span at the start of every full session.
Why No Brand Names Here
Component line-ups turn over every season and a page listing this year's models is out of date by next spring. Ask on the phone and we will tell you exactly what is on the wall today.
Special Orders
Anything a manufacturer will sell to a certified builder, we can source. Lead times run from four days to about three weeks depending on the part and the time of year.
Used and Older Stock
We keep a modest shelf of last-generation heads at reduced prices. They test alongside the new ones and they win more often than the industry would like to admit.

Heads that only work off a perfect lie get returned. The board is unforgiving and that is the point.
